Therapy for OCD & Intrusive Thoughts

Online therapy with Malka Pill, LCSW — available throughout New York State.

Intrusive thoughts are common. What makes OCD so painful is the meaning the mind attaches to them — the sense that having a thought says something terrible about who you are, and that you must do something to make it go away.

Many people carry these thoughts privately for years because they're afraid of how they'll sound out loud. You can say them here.

You might recognize some of this

  • Unwanted thoughts about harm, contamination, morality, or relationships
  • Checking, counting, washing, praying, or mentally reviewing to feel certain
  • Asking others for reassurance again and again
  • Avoiding people, places, or tasks that trigger the thoughts
  • Knowing the fear is unlikely and still feeling unable to stop

How we'd work on it together

OCD treatment works best when it's structured. We identify your specific obsessions and the compulsions that keep them alive, then work gradually on facing the fear while resisting the ritual — in steps you help design.

Reassurance is part of the cycle, so I'll be honest with you about when I'm not going to provide it, and why. That's a conversation we have openly, not a trick.

The goal is not to never have the thought again. It's for the thought to stop running your day.

Ready when you are

The first step is a free 15-minute call. No forms, no pressure — just a conversation.
